3 Teeth Straightening Treatments from a Family Dental Office

There are a lot of teeth straightening methods that someone looking to improve their smile can consider. Traditional braces are well known, but over the years, dentistry has modernized, which has allowed for an expansion on the options.

Considering teeth straightening to improve your smile? There are a lot of treatment options that can be chosen from, and family dentists are a great place to start! In this article, we will discuss three of the most common methods of treatment for straightening teeth. Read on to find out more.

Three teeth straightening treatments from a family dentist

Below are some of the most common methods of treatment that both children and adults can consider when they are in need of straighter teeth.

1. Traditional braces

The most popular teeth straightening treatment to get from a family dentist is traditional braces. They have been around the longest and are proven to be quite effective for both adults and children.

Traditional braces consist of metal brackets and wires. A bracket is cemented onto the front of each tooth and wires connect all the brackets together. Over time, the wires hold the brackets in place so that they help the teeth shift into a straight position. Every few weeks, the brackets and wires will be adjusted by the family dentist to achieve the teeth straightening end result!

2. Ceramic braces

Over the last few years, ceramic braces have grown in popularity. Family dentists offer this teeth straightening method to people who are seeking a more discreet method of treatment. Ceramic braces work the same way that traditional metal ones do, except they are clear in color!

Instead of metal brackets, they are made of ceramic materials which are a natural tooth color. This allows for less attention to be drawn to the mouth. The wires that connect the brackets to one another are clear in color, which again, helps with a more natural look. Just like traditional braces, ceramic ones are adjusted by a family dentist every few weeks to ensure that they are doing their job.

3. Clear aligners

Another teeth straightening option from a family dentist is clear aligners. They have become more popular over the years because they are next to impossible to see. Clear aligners are also very easy and don’t require having a lot of bulk on the teeth.

Aligners are clear in color and are only one piece for either the top or bottom set of teeth. They are removable which also makes eating and brushing much easier than with traditional braces. Clear aligners require that the patient be very disciplined because they are to be worn for 23 hours per day, otherwise, the treatment won’t work.
