What Are Dental Implant Options?

Prior to the current advances in cosmetic dentistry, people with missing or damaged teeth only had the option of using bridges or dentures. Thankfully, patients now have the option of using dental implants. In most cases, these implants mimic the look of natural teeth and are very comfortable to wear.

Just like with any healthcare treatment, dental implant options vary per patient, and per situation, the basic three types of tooth implant options that are currently available are as follows.

Dental Implant Options

Single tooth dental implants

If you have a gap in your smile or a broken tooth that professionals cannot save, choosing a single tooth implant is a great way to save your smile while also keeping your bone health. The process is simple and efficient, and in most cases, your tooth can be replaced with a realistic looking implant within a matter of a few weeks.

Multi-tooth dental implants

Dental patients who suffer extensive trauma, or who have lost several teeth are excellent candidates for dental implants. The dentist is able to craft implants in the form of dental crowns for single spaces in the mouth. The dentist can create a fixed bridge dental implant for teeth that line together that need replacement.  Regardless of which option you choose, both results in a natural looking set of dental implants that are indistinguishable from the originals.

Full mouth dental implants

Though not as common, there are instances in which a person may opt to replace all of the teeth in their mouth with dental implants.  This is typically referred to as a full arch dental implant. It is as easy as replacing just one tooth and can be performed on all of the lower teeth, all of the upper teeth, or on both sets of teeth.

No matter what dental situation you might be facings there are advanced dental implant options that offer options that are suitable for every patient. Some of the more advanced options such as Nobel Biocare are very comfortable dental implants that are suited to all age ranges but marketed to seniors thanks to their ease of use. Another type of dental implant options is mini dental implants. This type uses small screws thus making the whole procedure less invasive while also offering more stability to the soft bone in the mouth.

Cosmetic dental care can be a bit expensive, but you must remember that dental implants are a permanent fixture and the overall cost is manageable for those getting a proper procedure. Good oral hygiene will make a big difference in maintaining your remaining teeth and preventing the need for additional implants. Once your implants are in place remember to ask your dentist for any advice or answers that you require and be sure to heed their advice on how to care for your dental implants.
